Nearly 30 shops closed in Luton's The Mall in bid to halt coronavirus spread

The shopping centre remains open for residents but management are urging shoppers to practice good hygiene and handwashing.

A spokesman for The Mall said: "We remain diligent in our approach to the virus and are maintaining an ongoing dialogue with the local health authority as the situation evolves...

"Our centre remains open and providing a service to the local community at this important time and we are working with all our stores to continue to provide the support they need to allow guests to continue to shop with us, whilst ensuring we work within the confines of directions from the government."
