A Christmas show featuring some very special costumes with a charity message

‘Tis the season for pantomimes, carol services and Christmas telly specials, but it’s also the season of goodwill, and St Andrew’s Players are combining both entertainment and theatre with some charitable giving.

The amatuer dramatics society’s one-night special seasonal production, Christmas Is A Coming, falls on December 14, which just so happens to be the day after national Christmas Jumper Day.

In the spirit of the day, the group will be putting on their warmest, wackiest and most wonderful festive woolies to raise money for charity Save the Children.

The team will be joining hundreds of thousands of people in schools, offices and homes up and down the country as they sport a festive sweater for the day and donate £1 or more.

The money they raise will help save children’s lives in some of the toughest parts of the world, including Syria, Liberia, Haiti and Bangladesh.

The group have decided to wear Christmas jumpers as a part of their costume in order to take part in the fundraising event.

They will also be raising money for Keech Hospice during the evening, with profit from ticket sales and any donations going towards the local charity.

Audience members are encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper too and join in the fun.

Jo Yirrell from St Andrew’s Players said: “Christmas is a Coming is a one night Festive treat - packed with Christmas songs, carols and readings.

“A perfect way to have the whole family filled with Christmas spirit and ready for the season.

“There’s even a visit from Father Christmas. Your ticket will include a drink and light refreshments .”

The show is at St Andrew’s Church in Blenheim Crescent, Luton at 7.30pm.
