A night to remember a great talent

Performers and actors from Luton and Dunstable are coming together to celebrate the life of a legendary local am-dram actor, Peter Clarke.

Societies including DAOS, St Andrew’s Players, Stage One, The Griffin Players, Luton Light and The Phoenix Players have created a memorial concert of songs and numbers that epitomise many of Peter’s performances.

All profits from A Night At The Theatre will go to the Alzheimer’s Society, Parkinson Society and Tudor House, a care home in Dunstable where Peter spent the last few weeks of his life.

A Night At The Theatre director Malcolm Farrar said: “When Peter Clarke passed away earlier this year, every local theatrical society lost one of the most talented and prestigious performers (and directors) on the amateur stage. For over 30 years, he entertained many audiences with his professional style and characterisations and some of his colleagues were determined that he should be remembered in a special event.”

Produced by Peter’s son, Alan Clarke, the show will also feature a special appearance by The Luton Youth Jazz Orchestra, as jazz was one of Peter’s greatest loves.

The show is set to be a true living memory of a talented and loved man.

At The Grove Theatre in Dunstable at 7pm on Sunday September 23.

Tickets are available from the box office on 01582 602080, and donations can be made on the night.
