All the shades of sound at concert

BOYBAND Shades of Sound will be performing at the Heroes and Legends of Music concert on Saturday.

The Luton group, whose music is a unique blend of soul and reggae-rock, will be showing their support for the iSing2Win music project at the Luton Library Theatre gig.

The concert is a celebration of the pioneers of rhythm and blues and all the acts performing will be putting their own slant on music from some of the greatest RnB artists.

iSing2Win founder and project manager Dionne Wilks said: “We’re really glad to have Shades of Sound on board. They are a great new band hailing from Luton and this concert will bring back memories for fans and music lovers who love music from the 50s, 60s and 70s. It’s an event the whole family can enjoy too, while raising much-needed funds for our community singing workshops.

“It’s summer and what better way to enjoy it by letting your hair down and singing along to your favourite old-school songs with some of the best bands in town. You’ve got to be there.”

Shades of Sound members Sean Stevens, King Kittappa, Lea Hart and Nigel Burnett write all their own music which they say defies genre.

Lead singer Sean said: “We’re all really different, not just ethnically but with our backgrounds and our musical influences.

“It works well together and means we create music that doesn’t really fit in any genre.”

Shades of Sound are BBC Introducing and UK Unsigned contestants, and most recently performed at the Leagrave Summer Festival in Luton.

They also took part in Live and Unsigned at the Bedford Corn Exchange and performed at the Lewsey Farm Festival earlier in the year.

Other bands performing at the iSing2Win concert include critically acclaimed Steve Gifford and Band from Milton Keynes, the Rhythm and Blues band from Bedford and RnB tribute choir, Sing and Perform, from Milton Keynes.

Tickets for the concert are £15 for a family/group, £7 for adults, £3 for under 12s. For the workshop, it’s £10 for a family, £5 for an adult and £2.50 for a child.
