Are you a Mo Bro?

Have you noticed the men in your life getting increasingly hairy recently?

You’re most likely surrounded by Mo-Bros; honourable gentlemen growing a moustache for ‘Movember’ in aid of men’s health charities.

In Luton and Dunstable, the Mo-Bros stepping up to the mark include Paul Forder from Dunstable, Luton Indoor Market manager Steve Cook, regional manager Dave Gibbs, and the appropriately-named owner of Hairythingys, Mick Chapman.

Paul said: “This is my third year of taking part in Movember having started out as a bit of a giggle with a couple of mates in the pub. However as soon as I put the sponsorship form out there through social network sites I became fully aware about how great a cause it is and how many people’s lives have been affected by prostate and testicular cancer. Great way to raise some money for a fantastic cause.”

Movember aims to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and testicular cancer.

This year 40,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed in the UK, and one in nine men will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime.

Dave said: “Men’s health is a cause I am passionate about but in order to make a difference I need your help. My commitment is to grow a moustache for the month of November and in doing so, raise vital awareness and funds for men’s health including prostate and testicular cancer.”

Bedfordshire Police officers and staff are taking part to support their friend serving PC Nathan Peters, 27, who was diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year.

The rules of Movember are that each Mo Bro must start November 1 with a clean shaven face, then grow and groom a moustache for the entire month, with no side burns or beard, and most importantly, each Mo Bro must conduct himself like a true country gentleman at all times.

If you’re a Mo Bro, send your pictures and stories to [email protected] or @LutonNewsConnie and we’ll publish them throughout the month.
