David dances back as the Mad Hatter

A young ballet star will be returning to his roots as he dances the part of the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland at The Grove Theatre.

David Brewer, 20, a former Hollybush Road, Luton, resident, dances for Ballet Theatre UK. He returned to the local area last year when the national tour of A Christmas Carol,in which he played Scrooge, came to The Grove.

The new Ballet Theatre UK production Alice In Wonderland tells Lewis Carroll’s classic stories through the medium of ballet in a new and exciting way.

Guided by the White Rabbit, Alice meets some astonishing characters including the Queen of Hearts, mischievous twins Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and of course the Mad Hatter.

David grew up in Luton and honed his talents with teachers Louise Sheaves in Harpenden and Stephanie Ledger in St Albans, but it was his dance teacher mother Helen Brewer who encouraged him to start dancing when he was very young.

David said: “Mum got me into dancing to keep me out of trouble and keep me quiet.”
