Three cheers for Luton's champion Warriorz dancers after awards victory!

Eight talented children from Luton have not let the coronavirus pandemic stop them after winning a spree of street dance awards.

Warriorz Performing Arts Academy pupils Sorayiah Morgan, 9, Joseph Rusere, 9, Olivier Strzalecki, 10, Sophia Pacheco, 10, Imani-Rose McIntosh, 10, Shiloh-Isobel Ajunam, 10, Caitlin Fensome, 10, and 14-year-old Shaylah Johnson have been taking their classes online using Zoom and Instagram Live.

With the support of their dance teacher Zara Richards, they all signed up to compete virtually in a series of street dance competitions.

On August 26, all eight entered The United Dance Organisation World Street Dance Championships 2020.

They had some impressive results as Olivier and Joseph both made the top 14 in their categories, while as Imani-Rose walked away with fifth place in the Under 12 Intermediate Solo.

Sorayiah placed first in the Under 12 Intermediate Duo category - claiming the World Champion title - and also came third in the Under 10 Advanced Solo category.

Shaylah placed fifth in the Under 16 Intermediate Solo and third in the Under 16 Intermediate Duo categories.

Among other competitions the group entered, Imani won first and third place prizes, while Caitlin placed second, Shiloh-Isobel third and Sophia sixth in their solos. Olivier also won a first place award in his duo and several first and second place wins for his solo. Joseph has also won first, second and third place in awards his solo.

Dance teacher Zara said: "I am over the moon with the fantastic results these children have achieved. They have all worked so hard during the pandemic.

"I am so happy that I was able to continue to train them to such high standards even through such tough circumstances.

"Every single one of them has made me so proud."
