These two miserable-looking moggies were found abandoned, zipped up in a holdall inside a sports carrier bag outside Studley Road Veterinary Surgery.

The cats were panicked and disorientated and covered in their own faeces.

They are now being cared for by Feline Cat Rescue but the rescue centre is very overcrowded.

Amanda Courtney said: “The person who dumped these beautiful girls should be ashamed of themselves. They are understandably scared but will make lovely pets given the chance to settle. I know that all the rescues are full at the moment but what would have happened if these girls had escaped or worse, not been discovered? I shudder to think.

“We urge anyone looking to add a cat ( or any pet ) to their family to contact a rescue first and not go through breeders or web sites, as this will help ease the congestion in shelters and allow us to help more cats and their owners.”
