Grown-up indie kids gig tonight

The “oldest indie kids in Luton” are playing at Esquires in Bedford tonight to support Dodgy.

Bowfinger are Ed Coleman, Barry Cooper and Iain Houston, all aged 42, and David Sins aged 40, and provide an alternative sound to an ever-growing, modern indie music culture.

The band have been playing together for 23 years under the name of Sheen, but reinvented themselves as Bowfinger in 2000 after enjoying time off. Singer Ed Coleman said: “Our music is a hybrid from a lot of inspirations within the band, and we pride ourselves on being different.

“The last four or five months we’ve really got back in the game. We have an EP coming out in three or four weeks which will be available on iTunes, with a name and date still to be confirmed.”

Bowfinger are also playing in Luton on November 17 supporting Bruce Foxtons, an ex-member of The Jam.
