Having the time of your life again...

I’M sure I won’t be alone in rating Dirty Dancing as one of my favourite films of all time.

I still remember my first time watching it, cheesy as that may sound, and being absolutely enthralled by the story of Baby, (played by Emily Holt in this version), a 17-year-old girl on summer vacation with her family, falling in love for the first time with the enigmatic dance teacher Johnny.

Just writing this column I have I’ve Had The Time Of My Life in my head and my feet are tapping away under the table.

I can’t wait to relive the magic of the movie in the theatre – the film itself is nearly 25 years old and it’s based in the summer of 1963 but the story and the classic soundtrack never get old.

While it will be hard to replace the late Patrick Swayze in my eyes as the original brooding Johnny, I’m sure Paul Michael-Jones will do a fantastic job, too.

For the uninitiated, this is just an unmissable opportunity to see the fastest–selling West End show in history, in Milton Keynes Theatre. You’ll be dancing all the way home.
