Help to mend broken hearts this Valentine’s Day

SPARE a thought for unloved and lonely pets this Valentine’s Day.

The Blue Cross centre in Kimpton is looking for new homes for 54 dogs, cats and rabbits who have been abandoned and are desperate for someone to love. Centre manager Lynda Campbell said: “When pets are given up they can feel lost and alone so we do our best to make them feel loved and cared for - but what they really want is a home to call their own. Please consider giving one of our animals a second chance in life – they’ll love you for it.”

Four-year-old cat William has been waiting for a new home since last November - longer than any of the other residents.

A Blue Cross spokesperson said: “William was taken into a Blue Cross rehoming centre in Sussex by his previous owner because he was moving house, but after being consistently overlooked he has now been transferred to Hertfordshire in the hope that a change of scene might find him the home he is longing for. He’s a sweet and affectionate cat who loves cuddles, will you be his Valentine?”

Terrier cross puppies Mac and Pippin who are just 14 weeks old were brought into the centre last week after being found abandoned at Stagenhoe Park near Hitchin.

The adorable pair are bundles of michief who will melt your heart, could you give them a happier future?

If you can offer an animal a new home, please call the Kimpton centre on 0300 777 1490, visit www.bluecross.org.uk or drop into the centre on Kimpton Bottom, Kimpton, SG4 8EU (call ahead for opening hours).

For just £15, choose from ‘Puppy Love’, a ‘Kitten Cuddle’ or a ‘Horsey Hug’ and your other half will receive a certificate and a warm glow from the knowledge that your gift will help The Blue Cross care for all its homeless residents.
