Who was the little boy bowled over by a bevy of Dunstable beauties?

Here’s a little lad who know what he likes. He was bowled over by the bevy of beauties at the Miss Dunstable competition in, we guess, 1958.

Beauty contests are not politically correct these days, but in the 1950s this was a prestigious event, and the selected Miss Dunstable would go on to be a VIP guest at all sorts of civic functions.

And who would you prefer to invite to open your school fete...the Mayor or Miss Dunstable? Even better, welcome both!

This photo would have been taken during the judging at the Old People’s Welfare Association annual fete in Grove House Gardens.

That looks like Mrs Norman Cole, wife of the local MP, hard at work filling in her judge’s marking slip.

Alas, we don’t know who won, or the name of the admiring youngster. It would be nice to hear from him.
