Search is on for Shakespeare cast in WW1 anniversary year

If you have ever fancied yourself as a Shakespearean actor, now is your chance to make your dream a reality.

TADS Theatre Group is looking for a huge cast for a production of Shakespeare’s Henry V which will be performed next June.

Henry V tells the story of King Henry’s invasion of France and draws its audience into the heady atmosphere of war without the need to stage a single battle.

TADS hope this will resonate with audiences as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the First World War.

David Sachon of TADS said: “The play allows fascinating glimpses into the lives and fates of characters caught up in a cause that some are at a loss to understand – and that others encourage or accept for its glory and heroism. It is powerful, gripping, at times humorous, and thought-provoking in the way it presents a country driven by the fever of battle.”

There will be a pre-audition reading to gauge interest in the play on November 6 at 8pm, TADS Theatre, Conger Lane, Toddington.

The play will be directed by Sue Sachon. She is keen to welcome anyone to the reading who would like to try Shakespeare, no prior experience necessary.

Rehearsals will begin in early February on Monday and Thursday evenings.
