Sun, scenery and a fun family show

BASKING in the sunshine, enjoying a picnic and watching some fantastic theatre in a stunning location sounds like a pretty good way to spend a Friday evening to me.

Thanks to Chapterhouse Theatre Company, you can do just that when they bring Sleeping Beauty to Willen Lake in Milton Keynes on Friday.

It promises to be a magical show for all the family, and children are invited to come in fancy dress and take part in a fairytale parade with the actors during the interval.

Actress Lauren Harvey who plays Sleeping Beauty said: “It’s a very fun show. It’s really different from indoor theatre and people are really responsive, especially in the kids’ shows. It’s amazing performing in such beautiful locations like Willen Lake. The show is a really fun experience as a whole rather than just going to see the acting. Seeing everyone sitting down with their picnics, I really fancy going to see some outdoor theatre myself now.”

This version of the classic fairytale is set in 1940s Scotland, where evacuees from London and their host family decide to put on a play –Sleeping Beauty.

Lauren said: “It’s a play within a play, so it creates a bit more excitement in the story with the audience being introduced to the characters as real people first, then going into the story. It’s great.”

At 7pm on Friday, open for picnics from 6pm. Bring your own rugs or low-backed seating. Call 01908 691630 or visit www.seetickets.com for tickets.
