Superstars will shine in DAOS show

EVERYONE’S talking about it. No, not EastEnders, but the forthcoming DAOS show Jesus Christ Superstar.

In the last few weeks, I have had a number of people mention the production to me and tell me they have booked tickets and can’t wait.

I was invited to have a sneak preview of the show, but I have forced myself to wait until the real thing, as I don’t want to spoil any surprises.

But I did have a chat with director Alan Goss the other week who told me his cast boasts top class performers from all over Beds, as well as a star that dwells in the capital.

“We’ve had interest from all over the area and we’ve got the cream of the crop. We’ve got one of the most brilliant casts,” he said. “The guy playing Jesus – Aaron Prior – is phenomenal. He’s from London and he travels from Kent, where he works, every Tuesday and Friday.

“He is absolutely fantastic. He has a brilliant singing voice and is so charismatic.”

The musical, which is entirely sung, is based on the last week of Jesus’ life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Christ and his disciples in Jerusalem, and ending with the crucifixion.

It also highlights political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot – played by Paul Skinner – and Jesus. Alan said: “The two of them, Paul and Aaron, when they act together, make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.”
