Take a long walk down Avenue Q

IT’S the one we’ve all been waiting for – fresh from a fantastic five-year run on the West End, it’s the Tony Award winning musical Avenue Q.

Don’t be fooled by the brightly coloured puppets, this is no children’s entertainment – it’s controversial, mischievious and very politically incorrect and it’s coming to The Grove Theatre on July 23.

Described as ‘a cross between Sesame Street and the Muppet Show with an X rating and a government health warning that too much laughter can make your sides ache’ by Radio 2, this is one of those original and genuinely funny shows that only come around once in a while.

Its reputation precedes it, and you only have to mention the name to see people’s faces light up and set them off singing the infamous songs ‘Everyone’s a little bit racist’ and ‘It sucks to be me’.

There is a serious underlying theme to all the mayhem though, as the lively puppets living in New York are all searching for their ‘purpose’.

Beneath the offensive comments and bolshy bravado, the puppets are dealing with topics such as love, work, and most significantly, how are you supposed to pay the bills with a BA in English?

Book now for shows from Monday July 23 - Saturday July 28 by calling 01582 602080 or book online at www.grovetheatre.co.uk.

Unsurprisingly, this show is not suitable for under 12s – or perhaps anyone of a sensitive disposition.
