Will they give us the Full Monty?

I’M quite impressed Luton Light have managed to find a cast of willing male volunteers to strip off in front of an audience, but they have, and now the brave chaps are preparing for the performance of a lifetime in The Full Monty.

The 1997 film of The Full Monty was an unexpected international hit when it was released, so there’s high hopes the Luton Light version will be just as well received, albeit on a smaller scale.

Tickets are now on sale to see Luton Light tell the story of six steelworkers who are laid off from the Sheffield mills and struggle to deal with a range of problems.

The unemployed men are low on both cash and prospects and decide to present an all-male strip act at a local club after seeing their wives’ enthusiasm for a touring company of professionals.

Although a comedy, The Full Monty addresses serious subjects such as depression, homosexuality and fathers’ rights, topics which will no doubt resonate with today’s audience 15 years on from the original film.

Award-winning company Luton Light’s version of The Full Monty is ‘all-singing, all-dancing and all-stripping’ – let’s just hope these blokes don’t suffer from stage fright.
