Current year 11s joining the Trust will be working towards their A-levels, with a huge array of opportunities and courses available at either The Chalk Hills Academy or The Stockwood Park Academy in Bedfordshire. Applications are now open for spaces.

Sadaf Ahmed, Head of Sixth form, said: “I am passionate about providing our students with an exceptional sixth form journey. We provide a sixth form which is an exciting space for our students to transition to A levels & BTEC, grow into independent, confident, sociable young adults and embrace a rich and diverse sixth form experience”.

What’s on offer?

For creative types there’s art, English literature or media studies; those with an eye on a legal career will want law or criminology on their curriculum; STEM subjects are well catered for with maths, advances maths, chemistry, biology and physics. More traditional subjects like French, Spanish and history, nestle alongside sociology, psychology and RE. No matter where your child’s talents and interests lie, there’s a combination of courses to suit.

Football trials

For those who dream of footie success, there are trials for the elite Football Academy being held on May 30 at Chalk Hills. What’s on offer is a two year course balancing a good range of academic choices with a two year OCR level 3 Cambridge Technical in sport and physical activity, all done under the auspices and training of Luton Town Football Club. Places are available for males and females, and with weekly training and fixtures and the chance to prepare for a career on the pitch or behind the scenes, this is where grassroots sport meets academia.

Year 11 transition

For those already in year 11 they can visit The Chalk Hills Academy transition day on June 27 – meet current sixth formers, see the facilities and chat through what it is really like before deciding on their post-16 destination. You will be given all the help you need to spend the summer finalising your subject choices, ready to kick start your sixth year come September.
