14 hurt in M1 smash

Fourteen people were injured, one seriously, in a multi vehicle crash on the M1 yesterday.

Emergency services were called out at 5.30pm after three cars and a mini bus collided near Toddington.

Air ambulance crews they treated a woman (in her 30’s) who suffered spinal and pelvic injuries. They administered advanced pain relief and put her into a splint - the patient was then taken to Luton & Dunstable Hospital in a Land Ambulance, where on arrival she was in a stable condition. The Helimedix proceeded to assess a minibus of people) who suffered minor injuries, these patients were also taken to Luton & Dunstable Hospital for further investigation.

Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and East Anglian Air Ambulance were also at the scene, together with 10 EEAST Ambulance Crews, 3 Fire & Rescue Crews and 3 Police Crews .
