A large leap for Stepping Stones

STEPPING STONES has taken a giant leap into beautiful new premises.

The community interest company, dedicated to offering help and support to women affected by drug and alcohol problems, is now housed in a listed building owned by Luton solicitors Cooke & Sons.

Director Karen Godfrey is thrilled with the transformation that has taken place since the lease was signed in May. “The Tudor Trust gave us £50,000 for refurbishment,” she said. “The building was virtually derelict inside when we took it over but we’ve managed to turn it round in four months.”

It now boasts several meeting rooms for both group and individual counselling as well as extensive child facilities, two kitchens and a walled garden with softpour surface.

Karen said: “We realised that one of the issues stopping women accessing organisations like ours was childcare. So we set up an OFSTED registered childcare service to run alongside our other programmes of support.”
