Adoption service ‘good’ says watchdog

INSPECTORS from children’s services watchdog Ofsted have deemed adoption services provided by Central Bedfordshire Council to be ‘good’ with outstanding elements.

In a newly published report Ofsted said the service successfully protects children and young people, helping them to achieve well and to develop emotionally and physically.

Inspectors judged that stringent checks on the suitability of potential adopters and all those involved in the adoption process ensure that children and young people go to families that are right for them.

They were also impressed with the development of a teenage adoption panel, giving prospective adopters the chance to meet – and be interviewed by – young people.
