Andrea takes over at the top

New county chief executive arrives in August

Andrea Hill is to take over the hot seat as chief executive of troubled Beds County Council, replacing the retiring Dick Wilkinson in August.

She's been chief executive at Colchester Borough Council since 2001 and has been working in local government for nearly 20 years, including a spell at nearby North Herts District Council.

Council leader Councillor Angela Roberts said: "Bedfordshire has started on its journey to improvement. I am confident that Andrea is the right person to lead us on the next part of the journey."

Andrea added: "I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to help Bedfordshire improve. I am passionate about the need for good quality public services and I have been impressed by the commitment of politicians across all parties at the Council to improve services.

"Together, I am confident we will be able to significantly improve performance."
