Officers from Beds, Cambs and Herts armed policing unit (APU) attended the address, found the rifle and secured it, before it was booked into police property for destruction.

On Twitter, the APU (@ApuBch) shared the photo of the firearm and asked if anyone could identify it.

The team later tweeted: "We’ve had a correct guess for our mystery firearm from yesterday!

"It somehow made its way from the Dominican Republic to being lost in Luton.

"We’ll be honest, we had to look it up ourselves! Some good guesses from you all though."
