Artist’s first show in Dunstable in 5 years

IN his first local show in five years, a Dunstable artist is exhibiting his latest collection of countryside paintings.

Professional artist Ron Beaton will be showing his spring collection at the Old Palace Lodge Hotel on Saturday March 26 and Sunday March 27.

Bedfordshire born Mr Beaton began his career 35 years ago, painting many different things, but his love for landscape is what the latest show is focused on.

Mr Beaton said: “My great love of our beautiful countryside means that my work as an artist is a complete joy.

“I strive to convey my emotions through my palette and in doing so I hope to bring the beauty of the landscape into my customers’ homes.”

Mr Beaton said that although he is commissioned for paintings and sells some to galleries, doing his own shows, particularly in his home town, is very important to him.

Mr Beaton said: “I always enjoy attending the shows, speaking to people about my work and telling them a bit about the paintings.

“I also love to know where a painting is going to if it is sold.

“When a gallery owner sells a painting for you, you don’t get to see the people who are taking your painting into their home, but if it is your own show then you can speak to them yourself.

“The people who I sell them to often become collectors and friends, which is really nice.

“They give me feedback on the paintings and tell me when they notice something new about it that they like which then gives me inspriation for new paintings.”

“There is a little part of me in every painting I do, so it is nice to connect with the people who buy them.”

Mr Beaton is currently working on scenes of Ivinghoe Beacon, Dunstable Downs and Ashridge.

He said he tends to wander the countryside looking for scenes which catch his eye, then sketches a rough copy and makes notes on the surroundings before starting the final painting at home.

Much of his previous work has been reproduced as Fine Art Prints and sold in their thousands.

Admission to the exhibition in Dunstable is free and all the paintings and prints will be for sale.
