Awards for fire ambassadors

Young Fire Ambassadors from Luton were celebrated by Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service at an event at Bury Park Community Centre.

The Fire Ambassadors programme follows on from the fire service’s Faith Based Football project, which enabled young people from Luton’s Asian community to benefit from football coaching sponsored by the fire service. This also included fire safety awareness training sessions.

The young people, aged between 13 and 15, have now undertaken further training in home fire safety and will act as ambassadors in their communities to promote fire safety in their homes and communities.

Each Fire Ambassador was presented with a certificate and an official BFRS shirt from Chief Fire Officer, Paul Fuller, and special awards for outstanding work in the community were presented to Minhajur Rahman and Nadimur Rahman.

Ridwan Ali was also given a special award for his Fire Safety in the Home poster.

As well as the 12 ambassadors and their families, Imams from local mosques attended.
