Blue tit gets wash after oven rescue

This blue tit had a lucky escape when she was rescued by the RSPCA from an oven she had fallen into.

She was taken to Bedfordshire Wildlife Rescue, nursed back to health and released the next day.

The adult female was covered in grease and oil and had to have two washes before she was clean.

Beds Wildlilfe manager Sam Bedford said: “We gave her some fluids to counter the shock. It was a good outcome as we try to get the birds out into the wild again quickly because the longer they are with us the less likely they will surive. A bird like that, they’re so delicate and it’s so stressful for them, they die of shock so easily.”

Sam said it’s unusual for blue tits to be found in these situations - robins are more adventurous and are often found in sheds and similar places.
