Burns woman says thanks to her lifesavers

Debbie Grygiel visited the Herts Air Ambulance airbase on Monday to thank the air crew who saved her life, following a devastating incident at her home near Luton.

Debbie has made a good but slow recovery since the incident in June 2014, where she received 65% burns to her body.

She met Critical Care Paramedic Adam Carr and Pilot Nick Clarkson, who landed the Herts Helicopter in her back garden.

Debbie said: “Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it! Without the Herts Air Ambulance, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Debbie was in intensive care for 11 weeks following the incident where she received specialist treatment for her severe burns and has since stayed at home under the care of her daughter.

The Grygiel family has since hosted quiz nights and collected donations raising over £400 for the life-saving charity.

Debbie continued “We’ll continue to do all we can for the Herts Air Ambulance, we are even hoping to organise a fun day next year and raise some more funds for them.”
