Luton Airport recorded a record 1.2 million passengers through its terminal last month.
The figure represents a 19% jump on the amount of passengers who flew from the airport in September 2014 and also marks 18 months of consecutive growth.
Airport CEO Nick Bartonsaid: “These record passenger numbers demonstrate the increasing popularity of London Luton Airport with travellers.
“They also highlight the importance of expanding the airport to help meet the capacity needs in the south-east. “
An ongoing £100 million redevelopment means that by 2026 the airport will be able to sustain 18 million passengers a year.
