Captain Callum is happily flying high

Callum, who has a rare form of cancer called Ewing Sarcoma, has always dreamed of being a pilot, and thanks to easyJet and Rays of Sunshine charity, his wish came true.

Along with his mum, dad and two-year-old brother Evan, Callum checked in at Luton Airport and the family were escorted to head office to meet the easyJet chief captain.

Callum was presented with his own made-to-measure captain’s outfit and taken on a tour of the control tower before being escorted by police onto the runway.

Passengers on the flight to Belfast were surprised to be welcomed on board by Captain Callum, who was then taken into the cockpit to make announcements.

After the flight, Callum and his family spent the night at the Cabra Castle Hotel in Belfast.

Callum’s mum Rita said: “The wish was absolutely fantastic, more than we could have imagined. Callum was treated like a VIP by everyone and loved his pilot outfit.”

Rays of Sunshine was set up to make wishes come true for children with serious and life-limiting conditions aged between three and 18 across the UK.
