Not many couples are still around for their 72nd wedding anniversary but Ernest and Rosamond Scott of Leagrave celebrated with a small family gathering and a visit from Bedfordshire’s Deputy Lieutenant Col Chris Sharwood-Smith. He presented them with a card and bouquet of flowers on behalf of Lord Lieutenant Helen Nellis. The happy pair – who are both 95 and who still live independently – recently gave a talk to Bushmead Primary School pupils about what it was like living in Luton during the war. Rosamond was born in the town and Ernest worked at Skefco after being evacuated. They have two children and four grandchildren.
Col Sharwood-Smoth said: “They’re an amazing couple and I’m looking forward to returning next year.”
