Pupils from Chantry Primary Academy in Luton took part in a range of Remembrance activities on Friday, November 9.

They painted poppies, made out of plastic bottles, placed crosses on the school field and produced pieces of art linked to the theme of Remembrance, to mark the centenary of the end of the First World War

Jamie Kelly, deputy headteacher, said: “The children showed a great amount of respect and dignity to recognise those who have lost their lives in conflicts over the years.

“They painted poppies and with the help of the school community, attached these to the school fence as a mark of respect.

“The children also ‘planted’ crosses on the school field before taking part in a poignant outdoor assembly.

“There was also a whole school art display in the hall, where each class produced pieces of art work linked to the theme of Remembrance.
