Charity cake sale for commuters

A TRIO of railway revenue control officers took time off from the day job to surprise Luton commuters with a sale of home baked cakes.

Their tempting stall near the ticket gates was in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and was inspired by celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott who is endorsing the charity’s Cake Break day.

The officers – Eloise Rowan of Dunstable, Karen Weller from Luton and Nicola Bryce of Flitwick – tickled the tastebuds of passengers on the station concourse and raised £302.50.

Eloise said: “A friend of mine has MS so I thought this would be appropriate.

“I baked between 400 and 500 cup cakes which was mental! We also made tray bakes, brownies, flapjacks and cookies.”

Multiple Sclerosis is a neurological condition which affects more than 100,000 people in the UK.

It is usually diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 40 and affects twice as many women as men.
