Year 3 pupil Matthew Behrens’ creation will be featured throughout the year and has won praise from judge Kerry Campbell, an artist-curator who attended the Royal College of Art in 2016.

She said: “I chose Matthew’s design for its charming detail and because the artwork really represents the colourful and vibrant personalities of students at Richmond Hill.”

The ever-growing school – which will have a second site in September – believes in the importance of providing its pupils with as many arts and cultural experiences as possible. Little learners often visit Stockwood Park exhibitions and this year they performed at Luton Library Theatre.

School arts overseer David Lloyd said: “We believe creativity has the power to unlock the potential in all children.

“Creativity Matters is at the heart of all our learning opportunities and we are delighted to see increased funding to the creative sector throughout the town. We hope this opens up many more opportunities for our young people to engage in the arts.

“We decided to show our ongoing commitment by making a public statement, one that tells the whole community, prospective parents and arts leaders that we are actively encouraging creativity throughout our curriculum.”

“We want to collaborate and form partnerships beyond our school to benefit those we teach.”
