Circus atmosphere for Keech Midnight Walk

ALL the fun of the fair - including fireworks, stilt walkers and face painting – are on offer at this year’s Midnight Walk.

The annual 10 mile charity challenge in aid of Keech Hospice Care takes place at the stroke of midnight on Saturday, September 3. And organisers are planning a carnival circus atmosphere for the one of the biggest events of the year.

There’ll be a zumbathon workout before the start with fire-eaters entertaining entrants and their supporters.

The circular walk starts and ends at Barnfield College in Old Bedford Road.

A Keech spokeswoman said: “Once again it’s a chance to enjoy a fantastic all girls night, one that brings you and your friends together, has a great party atmosphere and lets you out on the town in your comfy shoes - what more could a girl want!”

She added: “Maybe you’ll be walking in memory of a loved one or simply stepping out in style to enjoy the buzz and excitement of the night.

“But whatever your reason, your sponsorship will help us continue the essential care and support the hospice provides for local adults and children.”

The rules stipulate women-only walkers, but that doesn’t mean men are excluded. Volunteers of both sexes are needed to help with setting up, registration, serving refreshments and marshalling the route.

If you or the man in your life can help, ring 01582 707945.

Cut-off time for entering the Midnight Walk is 2pm on Friday, September 2.

It costs £15 to sign up and every walker will receive a special Midnight Walk T-shirt, refreshments and a light breakfast as well as a finishing line medal. Minimum age is 12 and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
