Come and support our On Your Marks runners on Sunday

THIS Sunday will see our inaugural On Your Marks Luton charity run, and hundreds of runners are raring to go.

Everyone from tiny tots to seasoned athletes will be lining up at Vauxhall Recreation Centre at 9am to compete in 10k, 5k and 2k races, all to raise money for the Luton & Dunstable Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

The hospital needs to raise £1.5million to equip the extra cots in the expanded NICU, so that even more premature and poorly babies can be cared for.

If you haven’t signed up to take part, you can show your support by coming along on the day to cheer on the runners. And you can sponsor the Herald&Post team at www.justgiving.com/lutonhandp

Herald&Post editor Lynn Hughes said: “We’re very excited about Sunday’s event – it should be a great boost for the NICU appeal and an excellent way to raise awareness of the amazing lifesaving work that staff at the NICU do every day.”

The event is taking place thanks to the hard work and generosity of a number of organisations and businesses.

The Boxfit triathlon group have organised the event, and sponsors include Total Print, Body-Conscious Sports Massage Therapy, Briggs Roofing and Tri-Crazy.

Mostaque Koyes at printing firm Bartham Press also provided invaluable help with the promotion of the event, securing radio advertising for the race on Diverse FM.

Dave Coard from Boxfit added: “We’d also like to say a really big thank you to Vauxhall Recreation Centre for hosting the event.”

The Boxfit team will be at Vauxhall on Saturday from 10.30am until 12noon for runners to collect their numbers and timing chips. Those collecting before the race on Sunday will need to leave extra time in case of queues.
