Come to the pumpkin gala

THERE’S been a bumper crop of entries in this year’s decorated pumpkin display - part of the annual Pumpkin & Apple Gala at Luton Hoo Walled Garden.

More than 800 have been received so far and staff are bracing themselves for more.

Co-ordinator Charlotte Phillips said: “It promises to be the biggest and most exciting yet, showcasing the best the local community has to offer.”

The Market Place will be filled with local artisans and food producers while there will be all sorts of displays in the Show Arena.

> The event takes place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday (October 8). All proceeds go to the restoration of the Walled Garden.
