‘Commissioner candidates step forward now’
SOUTH West Beds MP Andrew Selous has backed calls for candidates for the police and crime commissioners elections for Bedfordshire to put themselves forward.
Next November commissioners will be elected in every police force area across England and Wales, outside of London.
Commissioners will be responsible for working with the public to identify policing needs, holding the local police force to account, setting the force budget and council tax precept and appointing the Chief Constable.
Mr Selous said: “The commissioner will give people a real say in how their area is policed.”
