Calling all proud mums and dads of potential panto stars!
The producers of this year’s festive offering – Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood – are looking for four talented boys and four equally gifted girls, aged between six and 11, to play the principal roles of the babes.
They’ll perform alongside Alan Fletcher – Dr Karl Kennedy in Neighbours – and Steve Hewlett, the popular ventriloquist from Britain’s Got Talent, as well as 90s pop sensation Lolly (Anna Kumble) as Fairy of the Forest.
The successful youngsters will be cast in teams of two and will alternate in the roles throughout the run.
Auditions for the parts of Arthur and Eleanor will be held at Dunstable’s Grove Theatre on Saturday, September 5 from 9am to 11am.
Aspiring young celebs should prepare a short song, preferably in musical theatre style, and bring sheet music with them. Everyone will be asked to sing and learn a short dance routine.
Last year Magc Beans Pantomimes enthralled audiences with their first extravaganza at the Grove, Dick Whittington.
Laughter rippled across the auditorium throughout the festive season as Ryan Moloney – Toadfish in Neighbours – and Leslie Grantham – aka notorious Dirty Den in Eastenders – led each other a merry dance in the popular pantomime. It also starred Ben Irish as Dick, apple-cheeked Leon Craig as a fabulously over-the-top Sarah the Cook and larger-than-life Jasette Amos as Fairy Bowbells.
This year Magic Beans are back with the enchanting and much-loved tale of Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood.
The evil Sheriff of Nottingham is spreading misery throughout Sherwood Forest by placing astronomical taxes on the residents as part of his wicked scheme to take the crown of England.
What the folks of the Forest need is a hero who can save them. Someone strong, nifty with a bow and, of course, who looks good in green . . . will this new guy in town, Robin Hood, measure up?
The pantomime opens on December 12 and runs until January 4.
