Council suspends garden waste service

Luton Borough Council is suspending the brown recycling bin collection (garden waste) from December to February.

The last collections happening this year will take place week commencing 14 November & also week commencing 21 November 2016 - depending on which week your brown bin is collected.

If you have garden waste after your last collection, the town’s household waste recycling centres will accept your garden waste.

Cllr Tom Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Waste at Luton Borough Council said: “As the nights draw in and the weather gets colder, the need for fortnightly garden waste collections decreases.

“ Because of this, we will be suspending the garden kerbside collection from December, recommencing at the end February when residents may want to start gardening again. But remember, the town’s two household waste recycling centres will continue to accept garden waste, along with any other household waste you wish to dispose of.”

The brown bin garden waste kerbside collections will start back up again next year from the end of February 2017.
