Council to decide on details of garden centre plans

Site owner Raymond Gill is awaiting a decision from Central Beds Council on an application for ‘reserved matters’ after being given approval for outline plans for a new garden centre.

Wyevale sold the land to Mr Gill after the original centre burned down in 2008, and he said initially that it was unlikely he would build another garden centre there.

But in late 2010 he changed his mind and lodged plans for a 960 square metre garden centre and 1,440 square metres of office space on the site, saying the development would create 90 new jobs.

Other applications for a 40-bed care home and a storage facility for mobile site buildings on the site have been refused by Central Beds Council.
