Councillors wowed by smart sea crew

YOUNG Royal Marine & Sea Cadets at TS Keyes welcomed Central Bedfordshire councillors Mark Versallion and Richard Stay to their headquarters for a special inspection.

And the pair were both left so impressed by what they saw that they signed up to become honorary vice-presidents.

The unit at Luton Hoo has had a long-standing presence as a youth organisation, based on the traditions of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines.

It provides a fun but disciplined experience for youngsters from 10 to 18 years old from Luton and the surrounding areas.

Funding for the unit is a continuous issue and efforts are being made to attract not only further cadets but obtain commercial sponsorships and donations from organisations and benefactors in the area.
