Bedfordshire Police urge resident not to fall for scammers offering to tarmac your drive

The police's Bedfordshire Rural Team are urging residents to be cautious, after receiving reports of cold callers offering to tarmac drives.

In a statement, they said there is a scam doing the rounds where rogue traders arrive at farm premises, sports clubs and small businesses.

They offer to resurface car parks and driveways with tarmac or gravel left over from work they have carried out nearby. They will quote a small sum of money, then demand a large sum once the work is done.

The statement said: "We are urging members of the public to report any similar instances to police, but also reminding you to stay alert and be cautious of any door-step traders."
