Car ablaze in Luton arson attack sees 18 frantic calls to fire service

18 frantic calls were made to the fire service after a car was set ablaze in Luton in the early hours of this morning.

Beds Fire and Rescue Service were called to Runley Road shortly after 1am and found the vehicle in flames.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze using two hose reels, but it caused damage to other nearby vehicles as well.

The incident is being treated as an arson attack.

A Beds Police spokesman said: "We were called at around 1.10am this morning (Thursday) to reports of a car being set alight in Runley Road, Luton.

"Officers attended the scene and an enquiry is ongoing.

"Anyone with information is asked to report it via www.bedfordshire.police.uk/report or call 101 quoting reference 19 of October 22."
