Death in Luton sheltered accommodation judged non-suspicious by police

Police were called out to a Luton sheltered accommodation unit on Monday after an elderly man was found dead in his home.

It is understood the man was found at his address in Hickman Court, off Copenhagen Close, before police were contacted.

A Beds Police spokesman said: "We were called at 3.30pm on Monday to reports of concerns for the welfare of a man in Copenhagen Close, Luton.

"Emergency services attended and a man in his 70s was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s next of kin has been informed."

Hickman Court is run by the local authority.

A Luton Borough Council spokesman added: "The council would like to express its heartfelt sympathy towards family, friends and neighbours of the deceased.

"While the reasons for the death are being established we are not in a position to comment further at this time."
