EDL founder Tommy Robinson to be charged over alleged fight in prison

The former leader of the English Defence League is set to be charged over an alleged attack on an inmate at HMP Peterborough.

Tommy Robinson, real name Stephen Lennon, attended Luton Police Station last Wednesday and was quizzed over the incident back in August 2015.

He has been ordered to attend Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on February 3, where he will be charged with battery.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “A 33-year-old man from the Bedford area, who was arrested in August last year, attended Luton Police Station on Wednesday (January 13) and has been reported for battery.

“He has been summoned to attend Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on February 3.”

Mr Lennon, originally from Luton, now fronts anti-Islamist group Pegida UK.
