Luton man charged after death of nine-week-old daughter

A Luton man has been charged with the manslaughter of his nine-week-old daughter.

Adam Stokes, 32, from the Runfold area of Luton, was charged on Friday, April 11 with the manslaughter of Scarlett Stokes-Craig who was 9 weeks old at the time of her death.

Scarlett had been admitted to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital on January 14, 2013 but was transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital where she died on January 24, 2013.

The cause of death was ascertained as head injury.

Detectives from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, on behalf of the Crown Prosecution Service, made the arrest.

Stokes has been released on bail and will appear before Luton Magistrates Court on May 12, 2014.
