One woman complained: "Residents in LU4 have been plagued with violent disorder.

"Last week there was fighting with guns and machetes in someone's drive and two cars got damaged, and the week before, there were three idiots doing extreme car racing for two hours screeching around Pastures Way roundabout.

"Police have lost control of LU4. More and more of this appalling behaviour is happening and people are fed up with it all.

"It's bad enough that we are a high Covid-19 risk area in LU4, without all this on top."

Detective Inspector Mark Pugh said: "I want to reassure the residents of Lewsey Farm that we are proactively pursuing those involved in the criminal networks which drive some of the recent incidents we have seen in their area.

“This afternoon we arrested a man in his 20s from Luton on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent in connection to yesterday’s shooting in Peregrine Road.

“He is currently in police custody for questioning, while we have so far recovered around £30,000 in cash as a result of searches linked to this arrest.

“On Monday our Boson guns and gangs team also carried out a warrant in Bunting Road and seized around £2,000 in cash as part of an ongoing drugs supply investigation."
