Man detained in Luton town centre during immigration sweep
A man was detained during an immigration sweep in Luton town centre yesterday afternoon.
A Home Office Immigration Enforcement unit arrived at The Mall shopping centre to inspect a furniture shop.
A spokesman from the Home Office said: "Acting on intelligence, immigration enforcement officers visited The Living Mode, The Mall, Luton shortly before 2pm on February 13.
"Checks found that a 34-year-old man from Pakistan had entered the UK illegally.
"He was detained pending removal from the UK."
