Detective constable Steve Francis, investigating, said: “Crawley Green Road is particularly busy, and the incident took place next to the road in broad daylight.

“I am confident that people may have seen something that may help our investigations; if anyone has any information about who may be responsible, it’s vital they come forward.

“We believe a man pushing a bicycle walked past the group as they were being robbed, and I would encourage him to come forward with any information.”

Anyone with any information can call DC Francis on 101, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
