Motorcyclist, 17, in 'serious condition' after crash near Dunstable

A young motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after a collision between Totternhoe and Dunstable yesterday.

The crash occurred on Dunstable Road, near the junction of Marina Drive and Totternhoe Road, shortly after 4.30pm.

A Beds Police spokesman said: "We were called at around 4.40pm yesterday (Monday), to a road traffic collision on Dunstable Road, Totternhoe, involving an orange KTM motorcycle and a grey Skoda Kodiaq.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed in order to deal with the incident. It was reopened at around 11pm."

The rider of the motorcycle, a 17-year-old boy, was taken to hospital by air ambulance, where he remains in a serious condition.

Sergeant Mark Atkins, from the Beds, Cambs and Herts roads policing unit, said: “We are working to establish the circumstances of this incident and would like hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or who saw the vehicles prior to the incident, or who was in the area around this time and has dashcam footage”

An East of England Ambulance spokesman added: “An ambulance and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance attended a road traffic collision on Dunstable Road near Dunstable just before 5pm yesterday.

"An adult male was transported by air ambulance to The Royal London Hospital for treatment.”
